Hi all,
Please click on the title for the full article: Thailand ready to be bioplastics hub. This is very good, really hope that Thailand concentrates on the bioplastic material, as Bell already explained to us that the current Plastic manufacturing machines can be used to produce bioplastic, and that it is only the raw material that is expensive. However, with a clear government policy, and incentives, this could be really competitive, as the article mentions, Thailand has an abundance in raw material. I just hope that we do not fall into a trap of only producing certain plants for this purpose, but that they would also use waste products from other byproducts, so that we would have a win-win situation. Whats your take on that?
Dear Miro,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your reminding.
I will share some experience. Since 2007, The bio degradable plastic had been introduced.
In EU or US ,it 's very popular. About 2009, I can said that trend of bio plastic , drop down.
The reason caused from the high price of raw material, including bio - thing.
The funiest story was about my customer. 1 years ago my customer asked for bio degradable bag. When he sae the price. He said that thank you for your advice the bio-bag is very interesting and I was the one who concern on environmental.
However, I thought that I order the normal plastic , it would be great.
Hi Bell,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your practical experiences. That's exactly why green products are more expensive, as they are sold at real value, whereas other products are often subsidized. So, would a company like yours, chose to switch to bio plastics if the price is right, as the article is suggesting? I mean, is there anything else hindering you from doing that besides price?
Of course, If we are not concern about cost, I will change the products to be more Green.
ReplyDeleteI though that behind story was consumer behavior.
Most consumer don't care about any environment, when they went shopping.
I had some question, have you read the content on the bag or noticed the logo?
Moreover, paper business often try to beat the plastic business. Paper business keep talking that plastic is bad ,is not environmental friendly, however, how about cutting many ton of trees and tranform to paper.
Why nobody mention about it?
Miro and Bell,
ReplyDeleteI always say one action has more than one effects. Please think about the resources which we use for the socio-economical development. Let's think about what will be the most suitable thing to do under present circumstance.
