Sugar > Electricity

In Florida, a sugar mill facility called Florida Crystals powers their business operation and 60,000 homes with electricity generated from burning bagasse (and wood waste when it is not sugar cane season).
The reason sugar cane can be used to make sugar and generate electricity is that it is very efficient in converting sunlight into energy. Florida Crystals estimates it saves hundreds of thousands of tons of carbon emissions by burning bagasse to run its facility, rather than fossil fuels. It is one of the largest sugar producers in the U.S. and runs the largest biomass plant in North America.

  1. In Thailand has some of power plant to use sugar cane and husk to make electricity. But it has several problem about investment. Because it use a lot of money to do it. So,if you want to do that power plant, you must have much money , borrow money from bank or financial institute. You must have about 60 million for 1 Unit. One month can get income 300,000 THB. That only income, but you must think to maintenance too.

  2. Thanks Ai for this, and definitely this would be suitable to Thailand. I'm only worried that as with every human being, farmers would just jump on this, and only produce sugar, thus creating oversupply, the price would drop, they would complain and make mobs, and it would be a vicious cycle. For all these schemes, we would need a strong government policy to regulate who is growing what and how much.
