I think Thai government can reduce car tax to attract customer to buy car more . And Thailand can respond to reduce pollution from global warming. But I think the old Thai government choose the wrong energy to use gasoline. Why don't to use natural gas ? Because in Thailand has natural gas more than gasoline.
I think, it is one motivation the people turned to alternative energy cars.In other hand, if most people have power to use a car I think in the city have more traffic jam.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this Thanat, and as this is one of my favorite topic areas, I do have a lot to say I think...maybe too much for in writing. Anyway, in a way I do agree with you, problem in Thailand is that each government always keep changing their mind, first eco car, then NGV, then E85, etc... truth is, as Eve points out, we already suffer from so much traffic jam, and its growing everyday. I think developing quick, reliable, and convenient mass transit is must for Bangkok, and I think this government is doing it, I just wished they could speed up more. Problem with you suggestion of natural gas, is that even though Thailand has it, its not even enough now, so imagine if all cars changed to NGV? I think E85(85% ethanol and 15% gasoline) and even E100(100% ethanol) is actually a good idea, as it is ethanol (alcohol, and comes from agricultural production, which Thailand has plentiful, but could be a problem if most farmers switch to produce only cash crop for ethanol and not food, then obviously we will have no food. It all needs to be balanced. What I dont understand, is why Nissan just doesn't make eco car with E85 engines, then they will get even better tax benefit? Anyway, I still think the future is electric cars, as we could create our electricity ourselves. I read this week that Mitsubishi is planning a huge Eco car investment in Thailand, and it will produce e electric car as well, which has only 3% tax. Anyway, lets discuss more in class...
